Benedetto Pistrucci was an Italian-born sculptor, medalist, and gem-engraver. He moved to England and began working at the Royal Mint, where he became Chief Medalist. Among his many designs were coronation medals for George IV and Victoria, and the Waterloo medal, commissioned in 1819 but never released.
